Letters to the editor can help inform the community about the facts and issues involving your local shelter. But they can also be used to present opinions contrary to those facts. ADPC has had multiple speakers address county commission about the facts of TNVR, and one county commissioner responded with an op ed in a local newspaper stating that the group got "caught up in the emotion of the issue" and ignored the facts. ADPC responded in a post:
"We’ve given you the facts about TVNR. We want it as a community, and not everyone who wants it is a pet owner, colony feeder, or a “cat person” as witnessed by the fact that when we’re at those meetings, those constituents that weren’t there at those meetings for that reason, still make statements in the favor of it.
You have given no statistics, you have shown no studies, you don’t mention one single quoted fact.
Typically, when people argue a point, they actually argue statistics, and they use numbers. When people just use words, it turns into personal opinion only."
